Unilever, Family Dollar, Gardeneers and Luke O’Toole Elementary bring fresh food to local Chicago community

One of the greatest challenges facing American cities today is that poor diets, driven by a lack of access to fresh food and knowledge on how to cook with fresh foods, can lead to adverse health outcomes. As a company with iconic brands, such as Hellmann’s, Knorr, Country Crock and Lipton, Unilever is committed to making a difference by helping to improve access to fresh food and education on how to cook with it. As part of our Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, we commit to helping more than a billion people take action to improve their health and well-being by 2020.

Gardeneers is the only Chicago-based not profit providing full-service, customized school garden programs with on-going support. When schools lack the time and resources to sustain a garden program, they ensure their success. Their dedicated Garden Educators work directly with students on a weekly basis to help the school gardens and the students and communities who care for them, connect with healthy food and grow to their full potential.|

Unilever and Family Dollar are proud to support Gardeneers in their mission and to help provide the community with affordable, nutritious meal solutions.
